Looking at games like the one above, I want to optimise the gameplay and make it as fun as possible. I think staying true to how the blood system wor
ks completely would make this an educational game, which is not how I want to market this. Educational games, while they have their place, have quite a bad reputation for being poor games, with bad graphics and minimal effort put towards them. While I am interested in having aspects of fact in my game, I don't want to rely on it so it doesn't get classed as an educational game like the one below.

In terms of my gameplay concepts, I think that simplifying the gameplay is best, so that I stick to the findings of my research and create something that is fun, eye-catching and not overly complicated.
Asking My Target Audience:
I asked fellow gamers in my company and class, who play iphone games, and also older adults about whether they would play a game like my ideas, and they agreed that I should simplify it down and have one method of gameplay - making it easier to play for the older generation, who don't play many games and would find it hard to master the gameplay, and for younger people, who just want a simple pick up and play game that is fun and engaging. Over complicating an iphone game is probably the main thing to think of when trying to market a game for success on the app store. Games such as tiny wings which have reached the top of the app charts have only one button press for extremely simple gameplay, which says it all really.
Therefore, my game will now only consist of the tilting motion - collecting red blood cells and avoiding white blood cells, leaving the platformer and shooter ideas for another game project.
Music Idea Decision!!
I have also decided on how I will integrate music into my game.
Instead of just having a simple background track, I want to try and make the music in my game somewhat interactive, which doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be a rhythm game. I have decided to have the music go up in levels - as in as you get a better and better score in the game, more and more instruments come into the soundtrack, making the music sound more full. This means that the music is a marker of how well you are doing in the game!
Concept Mock-up!
I have created a mock up of how my game may play on flash as a test. It's not perfect as it was just a quick test and the transitions are not all there.. but it is a test of how i could look.
