I have decided to use the knowledge used in my previous project and create this game using 3D graphics in maya. Creating a 3D games engine I think will be much too complicated within the time-frame that I have to complete this project, so I'm going to pre-render everything - which means I also have a bit more freedom with the art style. 3D games are very difficult to make with a stylised art style and actually look nice. The Images above that are actually from under a microscope are much softer and more glowy - which is much nicer to look at than the bottom animation, and looks a bit less 3D. Toon shading or toon outlining is an option, to try and make sure that my characters and backgrounds are nice to look at, and not too student-y 3D looking in style.
These two 3D blood vessel animations are a bit better in style, but I think I will have to test it out myself to see if I can create something unique, likeable and quirky in terms of game graphics. I don't want to have it too realistic because I don't want to gross people out with my game, as inside the body can be quite a gory and graphic subject.
Concept Work
This is a concept that I thought of to do with ways to expand my game to have different levels that change up the gameplay. I looked at medical diagrams to give me an idea for how it could become a kind of platform level looking at how the organ itself would act.
These are the concepts for the artery and vein levels. I want them to be bright and colourful and nice to look at. I think making sure that the colours are nice and bright, but don't clash is important too. This is a sketch of how the shooting could look.
